Genesis 1:1

¶  In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.  = time, space & matter

2  And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

3  ¶ And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

4  And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

5  And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

6  And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

7  And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.

8  And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

9  ¶ And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.

10  And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.

11  And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

12  And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit,   whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

13  And the evening and the morning were the third day.

14  ¶ And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

15  And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

16  And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

17  And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,

18  And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.

19  And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

20  ¶ And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.

21  And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

22  And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.
23  And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

Genesis 1:24

¶ And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.

25  And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

26  ¶ And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

28  And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

29  And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

30  And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

31  ¶ And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day

Genesis 2:1

Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

2  And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

3  And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

This below is Adam writing:

he is only retelling here below what God has done so far up to this point, its not a contradiciton.

4  ¶ These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,

5  And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.

6  But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.

7  And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

8   And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

9  And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

10  And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.

11  The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;

12  And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone.

13  And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.

14  And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates.

15  And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

16  ¶ And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

17  But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

18   And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

19  And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

( This was done again to show Adam that Got did indeed make all the animals so that he would know that God is the one who made everything, it is NOT a contradiciton)

Genesis 2:20

And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.

21  ¶ And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

22  And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

23  And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

24  Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

25  And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

The Rebellion of Adam & Eve & the beginning of sin & death

Genesis 3:1

Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

2  And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

3  But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

4  And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

5  For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

6  ¶ And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

7  And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

8  And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

9   And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

10  And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

11  ¶ And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

12  And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.

13  And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

14  ¶ And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

15  And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

16  ¶ Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

17  ¶ And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;

18  Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;

19  In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

20   And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.

21  ¶ Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

22  And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

23  Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.

24  So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

Genesis 4:1

And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.

2  And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

3  ¶ And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.

4  And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:

5  But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

6  ¶ And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?

7  If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

8  ¶ And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.

9  ¶ And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?

10  And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.

11  And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand;

12  When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.

13  And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear.

14  Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me.

15  And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.

16   And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.

17  And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.

18  And unto Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat Methusael: and Methusael begat Lamech.

19  And Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.

20  And Adah bare Jabal: he was the father of such as dwell in tents, and of such as have cattle.

21  And his brother's name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ.

22  And Zillah, she also bare Tubalcain, an instructer of every artificer in brass and iron: and the sister of Tubalcain was Naamah.

23  And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt.

24  If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold.

25  And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.

26  And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.

Genesis 5:1

This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;

2  Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.

3  And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:

4  And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters:

5  And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.

6   And Seth lived an hundred and five years, and begat Enos:

7  And Seth lived after he begat Enos eight hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters:

8  And all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years: and he died.

9  And Enos lived ninety years, and begat Cainan:

10  And Enos lived after he begat Cainan eight hundred and fifteen years, and begat sons and daughters:

11  And all the days of Enos were nine hundred and five years: and he died.

12  And Cainan lived seventy years, and begat Mahalaleel:

13  And Cainan lived after he begat Mahalaleel eight hundred and forty years, and begat sons and daughters:

14  And all the days of Cainan were nine hundred and ten years: and he died.

15  And Mahalaleel lived sixty and five years, and begat Jared:

16  And Mahalaleel lived after he begat Jared eight hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters:

17  And all the days of Mahalaleel were eight hundred ninety and five years: and he died.

18  And Jared lived an hundred sixty and two years, and he begat Enoch:

19  And Jared lived after he begat Enoch eight hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:

20  And all the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty and two years: and he died.

21  ¶ And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah:

22  And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:

23  And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:

24  And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

25   And Methuselah lived an hundred eighty and seven years, and begat Lamech:

26  And Methuselah lived after he begat Lamech seven hundred eighty and two years, and begat sons and daughters:

27  And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died.

28   And Lamech lived an hundred eighty and two years, and begat a son:

29  And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed.

30  And Lamech lived after he begat Noah five hundred ninety and five years, and begat sons and daughters:

31  And all the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy and seven years: and he died.

32  And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

Genesis 6:1

¶  And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,

2  That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

3   And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

4  There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

5  And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

6   And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

7  And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

8   But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

9  These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.

10  And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

11   The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.

12  And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.

13  And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

14  Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.

15  And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.

16  A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.

17  And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.

18  But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee.

19  And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female.

20  Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive.

21  And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them.

22  Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.

Genesis 7:1

And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.

2  Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female.

3  Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth.

4  For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.

5  ¶ And Noah did according unto all that the LORD commanded him.

6  And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.

7  And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.

8  Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth,

9  There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah.

10  And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.

11  ¶ In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.

12  And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.

13  ¶ In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark;

14  They, and every beast after his kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind, and every fowl after his kind, every bird of every sort.

15  And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of all flesh, wherein is the breath of life.

16  And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the LORD shut him in.

17  ¶ And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up above the earth.

18  And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters.

19  And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered.

20  Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered.

21   And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man:

22  All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died.

23  And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.

24  And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days.

Genesis 8:1
And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters asswaged;

2  The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained;

3  And the waters returned from off the earth continually: and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated.

4  ¶ And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.

5  And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month: in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, were the tops of the mountains seen.

6  ¶ And it came to pass at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made:

7  And he sent forth a raven, which went forth to and fro, until the waters were dried up from off the earth.

8  Also he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground;

9  But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark.

10  And he stayed yet other seven days; and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark;

11  And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off: so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth.

12  And he stayed yet other seven days; and sent forth the dove; which returned not again unto him any more.

13  And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry.

14  And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, was the earth dried.

15   And God spake unto Noah, saying,

16  Go forth of the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons' wives with thee.

17  Bring forth with thee every living thing that is with thee, of all flesh, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth; that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth.

18  And Noah went forth, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him:

19  Every beast, every creeping thing, and every fowl, and whatsoever creepeth upon the earth, after their kinds, went forth out of the ark.

20  And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

21  And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.

22  While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

Genesis 9:1

And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.

2  And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.

3  Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.

4  But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.

5  And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man.

6  Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.

7  And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein.

8   And God spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying,

9  And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you;

10  And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth.

11  And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.

12  ¶ And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:

13  I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.

14  And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:

15  And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.

Genesis 10:1

Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood.

2  The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras.

3  And the sons of Gomer; Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah.

4  And the sons of Javan; Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.

5  By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.

6  ¶ And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan.

7  And the sons of Cush; Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtecha: and the sons of Raamah; Sheba, and Dedan.

8  And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth.

9  He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD.

10  And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.

11  Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah,

12  And Resen between Nineveh and Calah: the same is a great city.

13  And Mizraim begat Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and Naphtuhim,

14  And Pathrusim, and Casluhim, (out of whom came Philistim,) and Caphtorim.

15  ¶ And Canaan begat Sidon his firstborn, and Heth,

16  And the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgasite,

17  And the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite,

18  And the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite: and afterward were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad.

19  And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha.

2 Pet. 3:3-8 tells us that people who scoff at the Bible are

"willingly ignorant" of the Creation and the Flood. In order to understand science and the Bible, we must not be ignorant of those two great events in Earth’s history. See Creation Seminar tape 2 for more information.

Over 250 Flood legends from all parts of the world have been found. Most have similarities to the Genesis story. Noah’s ark was built only to float, not to sail anywhere. Many ark scholars believe that the ark was a "barge" shape, not a pointed "boat" shape. This would greatly increase the cargo capacity. Scoffers have pointed out that the largest sailing ships were less than 300 feet because of the problem of twisting and flexing the boat. These ships had giant masts, and sails to catch the wind. Noah's ark need neither of those and therefore had far less torsional stress. Even using the small 18-inch cubit, the ark was large enough to hold all the required animals, people, and food with room to spare. The length-to-width ratio of 6 to 1 is what shipbuilders today often use. This is the best ratio for stability in stormy weather. The larger ships would have a hole in the center of the bottom of the boat with walls extending up into the ship, called a "moon - pool ". There are several reasons for this feature: It allowed water to go up into the hole as the ship crested waves. This would be needed to relieve strain on longer ships.
The rising and lowering water acted as a piston to pump fresh air in and out of the ship. This would prevent the buildup of dangerous gasses from all the animals on board.
The hole was a great place to dump garbage into the ocean without going outside.
The ark may have had large drogue stones suspended over the sides to keep it more stable in rough weather. Many of these stones have been found in the region where the ark landed. Noah lived 950 years! Many Bible scholars believe the pre-Flood people were much larger than modern man. Skeletons over 11 feet tall have been found! If Noah were taller, his cubit elbow to fingertip would have been much larger also. This would make the ark larger by the same ratio. God told Noah to bring two of each kind & seven of some, not of each species or variety. Noah had only two of the dog kind, which would include the wolves, coyotes, foxes, mutts, etc. The "kind" grouping is probably closer to our modern family division in taxonomy, and would greatly reduce the number of animals on the ark. Animals have diversified into many varieties in the last 4500 years since the Flood. This diversification is not anything similar to great claims that the evolutionists teach. Noah did not have to get the animals. God brought them to him (Gen. 6:20, "shall come to thee").
Only land-dwelling, air-breathing animals had to be included on the ark (Gen. 7:15, "in which is the breath of life," 7:22). Noah did not need to bring all the thousands of insects varieties.
Many animals sleep, hibernate, or become very inactive during bad weather.
All animals (and people) were vegetarians before and during the Flood according to Gen. 1:20-30 with Gen. 9:3. The pre-Flood people were probably much smarter and more advanced than people today. The longer life spans, Adam’s direct contact with God, and the fact that they could glean the wisdom of many generations that were still alive would greatly expand their knowledge base. The Bible says that the highest mountains were covered by 15 cubits of water. This is half the height of the ark. The ark was safe from scraping bottom at all times.
The large mountains, as we have them today, did not exist until after the Flood when "the mountains arose and the valleys sank down" (Ps. 104:5-9, Gen. 8:3-8).
There is enough water in the oceans right now to cover the earth 8,000 feet deep if the surface of the earth were smooth. Many claim to have seen the ark in recent times in the area in which the Bible says it landed. There are two primary schools of thought about the actual site of the ark. Much energy and time has been expended to prove both views. Some believe the ark is on Mt. Ararat, covered by snow. The other group believes the ark is seventeen miles south of Mt. Ararat in a valley called "the valley of eight". The Bible says the ark landed in the "mountains" of Ararat, not necessarily on the mountain itself. The continents were not separated until 100-300 years after the Flood (Gen. 10:25). The people and animals had time to migrate anywhere on earth by then.  The top 3,000 feet of Mt. Everest (from 26,000-29,000 feet) is made up of sedimentary rock packed with seashells and other ocean-dwelling animals.
Sedimentary rock is found all over the world. Sedimentary rock is formed in water.
Petrified clams in the closed position found all over the world testify to their rapid burial while they were still alive, even on top of Mount Everest. Bent rock layers, fossil graveyards, and poly-strata fossils are best explained by a Flood. People choose to not believe in the Flood because it
speaks of the judgment of God on sin (2 Pet. 3:3-8)

WHY DOES THE USE OF EVOLUTIONISTS' QUOTATIONS MAKE EVOLUTIONISTS SO UNEASY?

For example:

No matter how large the environment one considers, Life cannot have had a random beginning.

Although an almost incomprehensible number of species inhabit Earth today, they do not form a continuous spectrum of barely distinguishable intermediates. Instead, nearly all species can be recognized as belonging to a relatively limited number of clearly distinct major groups...No one has ever produced a species by mechanisms of natural selection. No one has ever got near it and most of the current argument in neo-Darwinism is about this question.

No matter how numerous they may be, mutations do not produce any kind of evolution. It is not that the methods and institutions of science somehow compel us to accept a material explanation of the phenomenal world,…

Evolutionists resort to various tactics in order to distract attention from these quotations, which reveal the lack of evidence for their theories, and instead of providing evidence, prefer to object to the use of quotations. They imagine that saying, “Look, the authors of these words are not people who deny evolution, so do not be misled by the use of such statement against evolution” will justify their position. Or that is the impression they seek to give.

The fact is, however, that these objections are both unfounded and invalid. Because the fact that those who make such admissions are actually evolutionists is particularly emphasised in the texts. The use of expressions such as “ as ………. an evolutionist molecular biologist has admitted…” or “despite being an evolutionist, the palaeontologist …… admits that…….” makes it clear that the quotations cited are in fact taken from proponents of evolution.

The deliberate provision of quotations taken from proponents of evolution is of enormous importance in terms of their effect. Because through such words evolutionists confess the inconsistencies in their theory. The invalidity of the theory is revealed in evolutionists’ own words.

When a palaeontologist who has spent decades studying the fossil record admits the absence of intermediate forms, or when an expert on genetics admits that mutations have no evolutionary power, no room for doubt is left regarding the truth of their words. It is therefore essential that such statements should be publicly aired.

Evolutionists’ aims in objecting to the use of such quotations is to obscure the truth they reveal about their theory and to distract people’s attention from it.

Obviously, were intermediate forms to exist, or were mutation and natural selection to have been observed to develop biological systems containing new genetic information, there would be no need for evolutionists to make such admissions nor for them to be used against evolution.

Evolutionists’ objections to the use of quotations consist of demagoguery aimed at moving the debate into other areas, and serve no purpose whatsoever. The latest quotations revealing the despair faced by evolutionists will very definitely continue to be employed. At least until science is rid of this outdated theory, which is no more than materialist dogma.

it is all science

consitant with paleontology:
Dinosaurs are referred to in several Bible books. The book of Job describes two dinosaurs. One is described in chapter 40 starting at verse 15, and the other in chapter 41 starting at verse 1. We think you will agree that 1½ chapters about dinosaurs is a lot—since most people do not even realize that they are mentioned in the Bible. (Actually reading the Bible would help, though.  )

Statements Consistent With Astronomy:
The Bible frequently refers to the great number of stars in the heavens. Here are two examples.

Genesis 22:17
Blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies.

Jeremiah 33:22
“As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, nor the sand of the sea measured, so will I multiply the descendants of David My servant and the Levites who minister to Me.”

Even today, scientists admit that they do not know how many stars there are. Only about 3,000 can be seen with the naked eye. We have seen estimates of 1021 stars—which is a lot of stars. (The number of grains of sand on the earth’s seashores is estimated to be 1025. As scientists discover more stars, wouldn’t it be interesting to discover that these two numbers match?)

The Bible also says that each star is unique.

1 Corinthians 15:41
There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon,
and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory.
All stars look alike to the naked eye.* Even when seen through a telescope, they seem to be just points of light. However, analysis of their light spectra reveals that each is unique and different from all others. (*Note: We understand that people can perceive some slight difference in color and apparent brightness when looking at stars with the naked eye, but we would not expect a person living in the first century A.D. to claim they differ from one another.)

The Bible describes the precision of movement in the universe.

Jeremiah 31:35,36
Thus says the LORD, Who gives the sun for a light by day,
The ordinances of the moon and the stars for a light by night,
Who disturbs the sea, And its waves roar (The LORD of hosts is His name):
“If those ordinances depart From before Me, says the LORD,
Then the seed of Israel shall also cease From being a nation before Me forever.”

The Bible describes the suspension of the Earth in space.

Job 26:7
He stretches out the north over empty space;
He hangs the earth on nothing.

Statements Consistent With Meteorology

The Bible describes the circulation of the atmosphere.

Ecclesiastes 1:6
The wind goes toward the south,
And turns around to the north;
The wind whirls about continually,
And comes again on its circuit.

The Bible includes some principles of fluid dynamics.

Job 28:25
To establish a weight for the wind,
And apportion the waters by measure.

The fact that air has weight was proven scientifically only about 300 years ago. The relative weights of air and water are needed for the efficient functioning of the world’s hydrologic cycle, which in turn sustains life on the earth. (If you are a physics enthusiast, please ignore our omission of the terms mass, gravity, and density from this comment.)

 Statements Consistent With Biology

The book of Leviticus (written prior to 1400 BC) describes the value of blood.

Leviticus 17:11
‘For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.’

The blood carries water and nourishment to every cell, maintains the body’s temperature, and removes the waste material of the body’s cells. The blood also carries oxygen from the lungs throughout the body. In 1616, William Harvey discovered that blood circulation is the key factor in physical life—confirming what the Bible revealed 3,000 years earlier. The Bible describes biogenesis (the development of living organisms from other living organisms) and the stability of each kind of living organism.

Genesis 1:11,12
Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth”; and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

Genesis 1:21
So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

Genesis 1:25
And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
The phrase “according to its kind” occurs repeatedly, stressing the reproductive integrity of each kind of animal and plant. Today we know this occurs because all of these reproductive systems are programmed by their genetic codes.

The Bible describes the chemical nature of flesh.

Genesis 2:7
And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and
breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

Genesis 3:19
In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread
Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken;
For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.

It is a proven fact that a person’s mental and spiritual health is strongly correlated with physical health.
The Bible revealed this to us with these statements (and others) written by King Solomon about 950 BC.

Proverbs 12:4
An excellent wife is the crown of her husband,
But she who causes shame is like rottenness in his bones.

Proverbs 14:30
A sound heart is life to the body,
But envy is rottenness to the bones.

Proverbs 15:30
The light of the eyes rejoices the heart,
And a good report makes the bones healthy.

Proverbs 16:24
Pleasant words are like a honeycomb,
Sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.

Proverbs 17:22
A merry heart does good, like medicine,
But a broken spirit dries the bones.

Statements Consistent With Anthropology

We have cave paintings and other evidence that people inhabited caves.
The Bible also describes cave men.

Job 30:5,6
They were driven out from among men,
They shouted at them as at a thief.
They had to live in the clefts of the valleys,
In caves of the earth and the rocks.

Note that these were not ape-men, but descendants of those who scattered from Babel. They were driven from the community by those tribes who competed successfully for the more desirable regions of the earth. Then for some reason they deteriorated mentally, physically, and spiritually. (Go into a bad part of your town and you will see this concept in action today.)

 Statements Consistent With Hydrology

The bible includes reasonably complete descriptions of the hydrologic cycle.

Psalm 135:7
He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth;
He makes lightning for the rain;
He brings the wind out of His treasuries.

Jeremiah 10:13
When He utters His voice,
There is a multitude of waters in the heavens:
“And He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth.
He makes lightning for the rain,
He brings the wind out of His treasuries.”

In these verses you can see several phases of the hydrologic cycle—the worldwide processes of evaporation, translation aloft by atmospheric circulation, condensation with electrical discharges, and precipitation.

Job 36:27-29
For He draws up drops of water,
Which distill as rain from the mist,
Which the clouds drop down
And pour abundantly on man.
Indeed, can anyone understand the spreading of clouds,
The thunder from His canopy?

This simple verse has remarkable scientific insight. The drops of water which eventually pour down as rain first become vapor and then condense to tiny liquid water droplets in the clouds. These finally coalesce into drops large enough to overcome the updrafts that suspend them in the air.

The Bible describes the recirculation of water.

Ecclesiastes 1:7
All the rivers run into the sea, Yet the sea is not full;
To the place from which the rivers come, There they return again.

Isaiah 55:10
For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater,

The Bible refers to the surprising amount of water that can be held as condensation in clouds.

Job 26:8
He binds up the water in His thick clouds,
Yet the clouds are not broken under it.

Job 37:11
Also with moisture He saturates the thick clouds;
He scatters His bright clouds.

Hydrothermal vents are described in two books of the
Bible written before 1400BC—more than 3,000 years before their discovery by science.

Genesis 7:11
In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.

Job 38:16
Have you entered the springs of the sea?
Or have you walked in search of the depths?

Statements Consistent With Geology

Jeremiah 31:37
Thus says the LORD:
“If heaven above can be measured,
And the foundations of the earth searched out beneath,
I will also cast off all the seed of Israel
For all that they have done, says the LORD.”

Although some scientists claim that they have now measured the size of the universe, it is interesting to note that every human attempt to drill through the earth’s crust to the plastic mantle beneath has, thus far, ended in failure. The Bible described the shape of the earth centuries before people thought that the earth was spherical.

Isaiah 40:22
It is He who sits above the circle of the earth,
And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers,
Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain,
And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.

The word translated “circle” here is the Hebrew word chuwg which is also translated “circuit,” or “compass” (depending on the context). That is, it indicates something spherical, rounded, or arched—not something that is flat or square. The book of Isaiah was written sometime between 740 and 680 BC. This is at least 300 years before Aristotle suggested that the earth might be a sphere in this book On the Heavens. This brings up an important historical note related to this topic. Many people are aware of the conflict between Galileo and the Roman Catholic Pope, Paul V. After publishing A Dialogue on the Two Principal Systems of the World, Galileo was summoned to Rome, where he was forced to renounce his findings. (At that time, “theologians” of the Roman Catholic Church maintained that the Earth was the center of the universe, and to assert otherwise was deemed heretical.) We could not find any place in the Bible that claims that the Earth is flat, or that it is the center of the universe. History shows that this conflict, which took place at the time of the Inquisition, was part of a power struggle. As a result, scientific and biblical knowledge became casualties—an effect we still feel to this day.

Statements Consistent With Physics

The Bible suggests the presence of nuclear processes like those we associate with nuclear weaponry. This is certainly not something that could have been explained in 67 AD using known scientific principles (when Peter wrote the following verse).

2 Peter 3:10
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.

The television is a practical (if not always worthwhile  ) device that uses electromagnetic waves (which transmit its video signal). The Bible contains passages that describe something like television—something that allows everyone on earth see a single event. (Note: such passages typically refer to the end of time. It may not be long before all of us learn for sure whether the Bible is true or not.)

Matthew 24:30
Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

Revelation 11:9-11
Then those from the peoples, tribes, tongues, and nations will see their dead bodies three-and-a-half days, and not allow their dead bodies to be put into graves. And those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them, make merry, and send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth. Now after the three-and-a-half days the breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and great fear fell on those who saw them.

Things In The Bible That Science Can Not Explain

The purpose of this page is not to explain what a great science text the Bible is, but to show that it is consistent with scientific facts. Still, the Bible mentions some things that we can not explain. Yet, if God is really God, He should have the ability to do some things we can not explain. In the last 100 years (and especially in the last ten) scientists discovered many proofs that confirm the Bible’s accuracy. Since these proofs support the accuracy of the text we can understand scientifically, it makes sense to trust the Bible’s text that we can not yet understand. (For example, how many people knew what hydrothermal vents were 30 years ago?)

Results of public opinion polls
on evolution and creation science

1987: Beliefs of American earth and life scientists:

According to Newsweek in 1987:

"By one count there are some 700 scientists with respectable academic credentials (out of a total of 480,000 U.S. earth and life scientists) who give credence to creation-science..."

That would make the support for creation science among those branches of science who deal with the earth and its life forms to be about 0.14%

The American public generally believes quite differently.

1982 to 2004: Gallup polls:

The Gallup Organizations periodically asks randomly selected American adults about their beliefs on evolution and creation. They have conducted a poll of U.S. adults on at least six occasions between 1982 and 2004. By keeping the wording of their questions identical, each year's results are comparable to the others. This facilitates the detection of trends.

1999-AUG 47 40 9
2001-FEB 45 37 12
2004-NOV 45 38 13

One might expect a gradual increase in support for the creationist view, because of the increasing percentage of older Americans -- the Baby Boomers born shortly after World War II. People tend to be more committed to religion with age. However, support for creationism seems to be stagnant, not growing. There may be a slight increase in beliefs in naturalistic evolution in recent years.

1991: Gallup Poll showing breakdown by sex, education, etc:

Results for the poll taken between 1991-NOV-21 and 24 were:

These results show how difficult it is for people to maintain their beliefs in creationism in college.

1997: Gallup Poll comparing scientists with the general population:

Note the major differences between the beliefs of the general population and of scientists:

Belief system Creationist view Theistic evolution Naturalistic Evolution
Group of adults God created man pretty much in his present form at one time within the last 10,000 years. Man has developed over millions of years from less advanced forms of life, but God guided this process, including man's creation. Man has developed over millions of years from less advanced forms of life. God had no part in this process.
Everyone 44% 39% 10%
Scientists 5% 40% 55%

The "scientist" group would presumably include biologists and geologists. But it would also include persons with professional degrees in fields unrelated to evolution, such as computer science, chemical engineering, physics, psychology, business administration, etc. Political science professor George Bishop of the University of Cincinnati published a paper in 1998-AUG listing and interpreting 1997 poll data.

"Bishop notes that these figures have remained remarkably stable over time. These questions were first asked about 15 years ago, and the percentages in each category are almost identical. Moreover, the profiles of each group has been constant. Just as when these questions were first asked 15 years ago, creationists continue to be older, less educated, Southern, politically conservative, and biblically literal (among other things). Women and African-Americans were more likely to be creationists than whites and men. Meanwhile, younger, better educated, mainline Protestants and Catholics were more likely to land in the middle as theistic evolutionists."

1999: Fox News

During 1999-AUG-25 & 26, Fox News asked what is the more likely explanation for the origin of human life: the theory of evolution as outlined by Darwin and other scientists, or the biblical account of creation. Results were:

Evolution:             15%
Biblical creation: 50%
Both:                     26%

This poll reveals the widespread lack of knowledge of theories of origins. In discussing human origins, Darwin described the evolution of apes and humans from an ancient common ancestor. He believed that species can be tracked further back for billions of years until the first form of life appeared: a single cell. The Bible talks about God creating the first two humans -- one man and one woman -- out of mud, independently of other species. The two belief systems are mutually exclusive and cannot be harmonized.

2000: Beliefs among some Internet surfers:

The Christianity section of About.com conducted a poll of its readers during 2000-SEP. They listed two responses which more or less agree with the creationist, and theistic evolution beliefs. Their third response, that evolution is a fact, would probably have received the votes of most believers in naturalistic evolution. Their final option would probably have been selected by some creationists who believe that students should be exposed to all belief systems, and by others who are undecided. Results were:

Belief system Creationist view Theistic evolution Naturalistic Evolution Neutral
Group of adults Evolution is an unproven theory, contrary to God's revealed truth. Evolution was simply the means God chose to create life on this planet. Evolution is not just a theory, it is a fact. Evolution may be an unproven theory, but it is important enough to merit study in our school systems.
Self-selected 27% 15% 50% 8%

These results are based on 2,904 votes. The margin of error in this poll is ±1.8 percentage points. Needless to say, the Internet surfers who responded to the poll are are not necessarily typical of surfers generally, or of the general public.

2005-MAR: NBC News:

NBC News conducted a survey between 2005-MAR-8 and 10. They asked about the origin of human life -- whether it happened by evolution or "the biblical account of creation." If they answered the biblical account, they were then asked whether they believed that "God created the world in six days and rested on the seventh," or that God was "... a divine presence in the formation of the universe."

Results were:

Humans came to be via evolution: 33%
God created the world in 6 days: 44%
God was a divine presence: 13%
Don't know: 10%

We are at a loss to understand what "God as a divine presence" means as far as origin of the species is concerned.

2005-JUL: Pew Research poll:

Between 2005-JUL-7 and 17, Pew Research asked about the history of humans and other species: whether they "...have existed in their present form since the beginning of time," or have evolved over time." If the subject selected evolution, then they were asked an additional question: whether the evolution was driven by natural processes or guided by a supreme being.

Results were as follows. We have included similar results from a Gallup poll of eight months earlier for comparison:

Existed in present form only: 42% (Creationist); cf. 45% for Gallup.
Evolved via natural processes: 26% (Naturalistic evolution); cf. Gallup's 13%
Evolved via God's guidance:: 18% (Theistic evolution); cf. Gallup's 38% for
Don't know: 14%

As Benjamin Disraeli once said: "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics." The Pew and Gallup results about creationism were a close match. However, the values for naturalistic evolution differed greatly: the Pew results were twice that of Gallup. On theistic evolution, the Pew results were less than half that of Gallup. This is one of the best examples that we have seen of how the phrasing and structure of a polling question can massively affect the result. Pew Research suggests that the Gallup Poll gave the subjects three options: pro-God (Creationism), another pro-God (Theistic evolution) and anti-God (Naturalistic evolution). Many respondents might have found the third option distasteful because it would deny the existence of God -- or at least the involvement of God. Only 13% chose this option -- roughly the percentage of people who do not believe in a personal deity. [Many sources quote other Gallup polls as stating that about 94% of people believe in a personal God. This is in error. That result corresponds to whether the person believes in God or a universal spirit.] Pew's technique is very different. The first question asked was whether the subject believed that humans and other living things "evolved over time" or existed in its "present form since the beginning of time." Here the stress is on humanity; God is not even mentioned. The subject might well be more comfortable answering "evolution."  At this point, the second question would be answered: whether life evolved due to natural processes or God's intervention. Note that Pew described naturalistic evolution "a natural process," while Gallup used the expression "God had no part in." The positive nature of Pew's phrase might well encourage more people to choose naturalistic evolution.

2006: CBS Poll:

A late 2006 poll by CBS showed that:

"Americans do not believe that humans evolved, and the vast majority says that even if they evolved, God guided the process.  Just 13 percent say that God was not involved. ... Support for evolution is more heavily concentrated among those with more education and among those who attend religious services rarely or not at all."

Poll results:

Belief system Creationist view Theistic evolution Naturalistic Evolution
Group of adults God created humans in [their] present form. Humans evolved, [but] God guided the process." Humans evolved [but] God did not guide [the] process.
Everyone 55% 27% 13%

The creationist view seems to have received increasing support when compared to earlier polls. This might be partly because of the elderly who represent a gradually increasing part of the U.S. population. At the same time, support for naturalistic evolution has also increased. The nation may be becoming more polarized as belief in the compromise theistic evolution position -- that evolution happened , but under God's guidance -- has dropped. By any measure, the United States remains a highly religious nation, compared to other developed countries. American adults tend to hold more conservative beliefs. For example, the percentage of adults who believe that "the Bible is the actual word of God and it is to be taken literally, word for word" is 5 times higher in the U.S. than in Britain. Church attendance is about 4 times higher in the U.S. than it is in Britain.  Similarly, according to one opinion poll, belief that "Human beings developed from earlier species of animals..." is much smaller in the United States 35% than in other countries as high as 82%.

2007: Gallup Poll

In the spring of 2007, following an all-candidates meeting of ten Republicans seeking the presidency, three denied a personal belief in evolution. This promoted the Gallup Organization to ask American adults between 2007-MAY-21-24: "Do you, personally, believe in evolution or not." This is one of the poorest polling questions that we have ever seen, because people generally hold one of three beliefs concerning origins:

Naturalistic evolutionism: Evolution happened according to purely natural forces without any god

Theistic evolutionism: Evolution happened and was/is guided by God.
Creationion: Species were created separately by God.

When a person is asked if they believe in evolution, they might interpret the question as belief in naturalistic evolution only. Alternately, they might consider it as asking whether one believes in either naturalistic or theistic evolution. Pollsters tend to like simple yes and no answers. Sometimes they do not handle questions well where there are three discrete positions. In addition, some people regard evolution as covering only the development of life forms from the first one-celled animal to the present diversity of plants and animals. Others define the term more widely, and include the origins of the universe, the development of galaxies, stars, planetary systems, development of mountain ranges, continental drift, etc.

The results, for what they are worth are a statistical draw:

49% believe in "Evolution;"
48% do not;
2% have no opinion.

More "highly educated" adults believe in "evolution:"

74% of people with post-graduate degrees believe in "evolution," as do:
48% of college graduates
50% of adults with some college
41% of adults with high school or less.

More frequent attendance at religious services correlated with a lack of belief in "evolution:"

24% of those who attend weekly believe in evolution, as do:
52% of those who attend nearly weekly or monthly, and
71% of those who attend seldom or never.

As "expected", political affiliation reflects a difference of opinion on origins:

Only 30% of Republicans believe in "evolution;" 68% do not.
61% of independents believe in "evolution;" 37% do not.
57% of Democrats believe in "evolution;" 40% do not.

The five main reasons why people say they do not believe in "evolution" are their belief Jesus Christ, belief in God, "due to my religion or faith," "not enough evidence," and belief in the Bible.

 1999: Beliefs among conservative Christians:

In 1999-NOV, Focus on the Family, a Fundamentalist Christian agency, concluded a poll of their web site visitors concerning their beliefs, mainly about age of the earth. Results were:

God created the universe, but I don't know when:    46%
God created the universe thousands of years ago: 43%
God created the universe billions of years ago:       10%
Life came into being and evolved on its own:           1%
I don't have a clue:                                                        0.4%

Beliefs elsewhere in the world:

Belief in creation science seems to be largely a U.S. phenomenon among countries the West. A British survey of 103 Roman Catholic priests, Anglican bishops and Protestant ministers/pastors, perhaps conducted in 1999 showed that:

97% do not want to believe the world was created in six days.

80% do not want to believe in the existence of Adam and Eve.

But that dotn mean they didnt exist, it just means they dont want to believe they did

Why do people hold these opinions?

peer pressure

The Wichita Eagle and the Kansas City Star, surveyed 604 respondents on 1999-OCT-22 to 26. Kansas had been a target of much interest and some ridicule after the state Board of Education dropped the necessity of teaching evolution in its public schools. 3 Some interesting comments by Kansans were published. As always, beliefs seem to be derived from people's fundamental interpretation of the Bible:

Auctioneer Gary Corwin said: "I believe that the Lord God created everything, just like the Bible says, I don't think we came from apes." [Darwin was misquoted over a century ago as stating that humans are the descendants of apes. Actually he said that humans and apes had a common ancient ancestor.]
The "National Center for Science Education," which promotes the  teaching of evolution, & keeping creation out of schools,  Spokesperson Eugenie Scott commented: "It goes to the meaning and purpose of life. I think many Americans believe that somehow they are less special to God if they evolved from nonhuman animals."
The Rev. Victor Calcote, pastor of Epworth United Methodist Church in Wichita KS stated: "I believe there is a God that's in control of creation. I've never gotten hung up on how he did it." He added: "I don't appreciate some of the caricatures of Kansans. Just because our school board voted that way doesn't mean we're a bunch of bumbling idiots."

As is normal in media reports, a liberal religious source was not interviewed. If someone who was a Unitarian Universalist, Humanist, Agnostic, Atheist, or other secularist were asked, they would probably comment that Genesis is a very beautiful myth, but not a story that should be interpreted literally. They might suggest that the authors of Genesis lived in a pre-scientific era and simply adopted creation legends from their surrounding Mesopotamian cultures.

God’s Simple Plan of Salvation

Save Yourself Some Pain

Becoming a Christian is the most incredible event that will ever take place in your life. You have found peace with your Creator. You have found everlasting life! Be assured--God will never leave you nor forsake you. He has brought you this far and He will complete the wonderful work He has begun in you. God knows your every thought, your every care and your deepest concerns.

Let's now look at some of those possible concerns. First, and of primary concern -- do you have "assurance" of your salvation? The Bible says to "make your calling and election sure" (2 Peter 1:10, italics added), so, let's go through a short "checklist" to make sure that you are truly saved:

  1. Are you aware that God became flesh in the person of Jesus Christ (John 1:14, KJV), and that he died for the sins of the world?
  2. Did you come to the Savior because you had sinned?
  3. Did you "repent" and put your faith in Jesus?
  4. Are you convinced that He suffered and died on the Cross and that He rose again on the third day?

God acquits us from the Courtroom of Eternal Justice on the grounds that Jesus Christ paid our fine. We are "justified" (made right with God) by His suffering death. The resurrection of Jesus Christ was God's seal of approval of the fact that His precious blood was sufficient to pay the fine.

Think of it this way... You have violated the law and face a $50,000 fine. You tell the judge that you are truly sorry for your crime, but he answers, "So you should be -- you have broken the law! Now, can you pay this fine?" He can only acquit you if the fine is paid. If someone else pays your fine, then he can let you go, but he must have "grounds" on which to release you.

The reason we need a substitute (a savior) to pay our moral "fine," is because we have broken God's Law. To see how much we have transgressed this Law (the Ten Commandments), we will go through some of them -- Have you ever told a lie? Have you ever stolen something? Have you ever lusted after another person? If you answered "Yes" to these questions, you admit that you are a lying, thieving, adulterer at heart, and you have to face God on Judgment Day! If you have used His name in vain, then you are guilty of "blasphemy" -- you've substituted God's holy Name for a curse word. Perhaps you've hated someone, then the Bible says that you are a murderer. You have violated God's holy Law, and you're in BIG trouble. On Judgment Day, you will be found guilty and end up in Hell. That's why you need the Savior. Merely being sorry for your sins, or confessing them to God won't help you. You must turn from sin (repent), and your faith must be in Jesus Christ alone. He is the only "grounds" for God to grant mercy towards you. If you're not sure of your salvation, make Psalm 51 your own prayer.

Let's now look at some more important principles that can save you a great deal of pain

Troubleshoot
If you know the Lord, nothing will shake your faith. It is true that the man with an experience is not at the mercy of a man with an argument. Take for example a little boy who is looking at a heater. His father warns him that it's hot.

Tithing
It was once said that the wallet is the "last frontier"-- that it’s the last thing that comes to God in surrender. But it should be the first, along with our surrendered heart.

Water Baptism
The Bible Says , "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. . ." (Acts 2:38). There is therefore no question as to whether or not you should be baptized. The questions are how, when, and by whom?

Giving Thanks
For the Christian, every day should be Thanksgiving Day. We should even be thankful in the midst of problems.

Fellowship
Pray about where you should fellowship. Make sure the place you are going to call your church home calls sin what it is -- sin. Do they believe the promises of God? Are they loving? Does the pastor treat his wife with respect? Is he a man of the Word? Does he have a humble heart, and a gentle spirit?

Spiritual Warfare
When you became a Christian, you stepped right into the heat of an age-old battle. You have a three-fold enemy--the world, the flesh, and the devil.

Prayer

It has been well said that God always

answers prayer. Sometimes He says, "Yes." sometimes He says, "NO." Sometimes He says, "Wait for a minute," and a day to the Lord is a thousand years to us (2 Peter 3:8). That means that a ten year wait for us, is 14 minutes and 24 seconds to God, so ask in faith, but rest in peace-filled patience.

Evangelism
It was late in December, 1996. A large family gathered in Los Angeles for the joyous occasion of wrapping Christmas presents. It was a big family because it was the product of two marriages.

Faith
When a young man once looked at me and said, "I find it hard to believe some of the things in the Bible," I smiled and asked, "What's your name?" When he said, "Paul," I casually answered, "I don't believe you." He looked at me questioningly.

Daily Bible Reading
A healthy baby has a healthy appetite. If you have truly been "born" of the Spirit of God, you will have a healthy appetite. The Bible says, "As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby," (1 Peter 2:2). Feed yourself every day without fail.

Big dino prints found in Jurassic park in France
10/07/2009 12:48:38 PM
By ANGELA DOLAND Associated Press Writer
Now that's one big foot. Paleontologists in eastern France have reported the discovery of some of the largest dinosaur footprints ever documented, measuring about 1.4 meters to 1.5 meters (4.6 feet to 4.9 feet) in diameter.
The site of the find, high in the Jura mountains, was once a literal sauropod stomping ground: So far, 20 prints scattered on a 10-hectare (25-acre) site have been uncovered, paleontologist Jean-Michel Mazin of France's National Center of Scientific Research told The Associated Press on Wednesday.
Researchers believe there are hundreds, or even thousands, more still hidden, Mazin said.
The well-preserved footprints from the period will help scientists learn more about sauropods, long-necked plant eaters that were giants among the dinosaurs. The hulking beasts who left their footprints in the mud weighed supposedly 30 to 40 metric tons (33 to 44 tons) and were more than 25 meters (82 feet) long, the French research center thinks.
From the prints, "we can calculate their size and speed, using our imagination, to find out about their behavior and learn how they got around," said Mazin, who is studying the site along with fellow researcher Pierre Hantzpergue. Their discovery was announced Tuesday.
Several "scientists"
who are not connected with the project said the prints appeared to be among the biggest ever found internationally, though they noted that slightly larger tracks have been recorded elsewhere. Andrew Milner, paleontologist at the St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site at Johnson Farm in southwestern Utah, looked at photos of the French craters and said, "You get a real sense of the weight of the animals, you can see a big, clear mud ring around the footprints." again with some imagination.
"It looks like a pretty amazing site _ I'm blown away," Milner added. Daniel Marty, a paleontologist who is excavating dino tracks along a highway under construction in Switzerland, said the French site is "very interesting, there is this huge potential for excavation."
Two eagle-eyed nature lovers, Marie-Helene Marcaud and Patrice Landry, discovered the site on a path through a mountain prairie and reported it to scientists. Hikers often passed by, but nobody had reported dino prints before.
"They were very hard to see because no one wanted to see them, but there were a lot of little stones in thew way & there was grass growing there, and you really had to have a trained eye ( imagination ) to notice something," said Mazin, the French researcher.
The Jura mountains gave the name because rocks from the period were found there. Back then, the area resembled the Bahamas, all water and islands.  we want to think but  we dont know.
Mazin said the dinosaurs are believed to have left their tracks near the water in mud, which then dried in the sun and was set like plaster. The sea slowly washed sediment onto the prints, trapping them and sealing them off _ which protected them throughout history, even during dramatic changes to the landscape.
